Holiday Greetings Family and Friends!!!

We hope that this greeting finds you all safe and well.   This has been a year of wins and losses for us.  Since we last corresponded, we visited Key West for Christmas last year and then had a wonderful family Christmas.

The new year brought us some challenges.  I thought I had some back issues and did a full 8 weeks of physical therapy making my back feel great (a win) but I still couldn’t walk very well (a loss).  That took me to an orthopedic surgeon and x-rays showing bone on bone in my hip.  UGH….I put off surgery in order to participate in some already scheduled activities.

Memorial day weekend took us to Key West again with me on a cane and in a wheel chair for the airports (a loss).  We had a fiasco with travel but finally made it there and back but not before we lost our awesome 12 ½ year old Bailey Blue.  Such a sad loss for us.

June brought us the memorial service for Tom’s mom in Ashland (a loss) and we were happy to have his sister and brother in law and one of their daughters and her family with us for about a week (a definite win).

Shortly after the family affair I had my hip replacement on July 1st.  It was a rousing success and I was cane and pain free within 2 ½ weeks.  That was a definite win!  But, of course, it resulted in not getting to the golf course until 6 weeks later.  A loss that messed with my summer  UGH.  But this too passed and we were on to other things.

In August we headed to outside Buffalo NY to pick out our new golden fur kid (a win for sure).  He was Mister Red and we named him Bogey.  On September 7th we headed back to NY to bring him home to us and Brodey.  What a sweet boy he is and a great addition to our family.

At the very end of September, Tyler and I headed off to Destin for our annual golf trip.  It was right after Hurricane Ian pummeled Ft Myers but missed the panhandle all together, so we had the best weather we have ever had for that week.  Another win!!  On the trip down we stopped over in Selma, AL in order to take in some civil rights history and it proved to be quite interesting. Upon returning home, Tyler stared a new job cooking in a restaurant in Medina and is loving being back in the kitchen (a win).

Upon coming back, our life was filled with puppy training….we hadn’t done that in 10 years…and it was kind of a chore, however, Bogey finally made the turn and became pretty much house trained.

Tom had season tickets for the Buck’s games and so spent many of his Saturday’s in Columbus.  Because of puppy training I didn’t make it to any games this year (a loss). However, he sold his Michigan ticket so we embarked on our annual OSU vs Michigan tailgate party ( a win).  The outcome of the game though was an astounding loss.  Nevertheless, our team of choice did make it in to the final four (of course, a win).  Luckily Tom was able to get over a kidney infection he picked up before our party and aside from the disappointing loss, a good time was had by all.

As I am writing we are once again in Key West with some friends and having wonderful weather, food, friendship and frivolity.  A win that Key West is so fun at Christmas time.  The travel down was a win and we had no hitches this time and a no hitch travel home (a win).

That’s about it for us.  We’re enjoying retirement and for the most part we are healthy and most definitely happy.  Our wish for you is that 2023 will find you safe, well and prosperous.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Patti & Tom  and of course our Bois... Brodey and Bogey
